Sex and the City

I know this makes me really, really gay, but Sex and the City is one of my all time favorite shows, even though my life as of late seems to be NO SEX and the city (haha, I couldn't write a post about SATC without a pun!). I rarely can watch an episode of a television show more than once, but the SATC episodes just never get old to me (and they certainly never get less cheesy). I have been on a SATC kick recently because I started watching the episodes on HBO on demand after running out of things to watch on my DVR. In addition, I am lucky to have a roommate who has the entire series on DVD. Side note: I used to have the entire series on DVD, but somehow lost them, and I have no idea how! I never lose things. Very disconcerting.

Anyway, I am sure you can imagine my exictement when I saw this fierceness:

I can't wait for the second SATC movie to come out this Spring!

Hodge-podge

So, the first week of my pre-Christmas diet (for lack of a better word) went OK. On Wednesday my team at work got taken out to lunch by one of the partners, and we went to this fancy-ish pizza place and got pizzas to share, so I kinda had to eat some. But it was only two slices. I also had some beer Thursday night at the Lady GaGa concert, but I didn't go out last night, so that kind of cancels it out. Anyway, I am feeling much better, less bloated and back on track.

Speaking of Lady GaGa above, she was AMAZING! I saw her back in the spring at a much smaller venue for only $20. We lucked out back then because we bought the tickets right before she exploded. She was even better this time and her act really improved.

The first snowfall of the season was today. It was actually just snow mixed in with rain. Either way, it sucked, because it just made the cold weather wet, which is not fun. I had to trudge through it to go to American Apparel to get a shirt. Oh, the things we do for fashion.

Trying to avoid (too much) holiday weight gain

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Christmas comes in a close second, but I feel like Thanksgiving is so much less stressful since you don't have to deal with all of the jazz of decorations and gift-buying. It consists of eating, and relaxing, which are two of my favorite things to do!

I definitely did a good amount of the former over the long weekend. You know you ate too much when you are still feeling full from the night before after being up for several hours. The holiday combined with the stress of studying for the CPA exam (I take the last part I need to pass later on this afternoon...ah!) made me basically go on a four day bender of overeating and eating nothing but junkfood.

I like to think I am a healthy eater, and I probably am compared to most people, but to the truth is I don't really deprive myself. I really do hate the bloated, sluggish feeling I get after I pig out, though. Since it is bound to happen again come Christmas (I may as well accept it and not try to avoid it), I decided that, starting today, I am going to go on a little bit of a diet before Christmas hits. Nothing crazy, I am just going to try and cut out junk food and be a little more consistent with eating healthy. I think it is OK to cheat, but the key is to limit it to once a week, rather than several times a week (and if it is several times a week, it is not really cheating, it is basically normal, and that just defeats the whole purpose!). One of my friends said she would do this with me, so we are going to try and keep each other in check.

I already feel better after making this decision, and today has been good, so far (although it is only 11am, haha). I have been trying to drink a lot of water to help rid my body of all of the salt I consumed over the weekend. Ok -- onto cramming for the exam. I will try to check in with progress reports!

I should change the title of this blog to FAILBLOG 2

Damn. This blog is turning into a major fail. How did nearly 3 months go by since my last post? I am sure if I go through my archives I will find several posts where I have said something to that effect.

It certainly would be easy for me to just quit at this point, but I am determined to keep this thing alive, no matter how many setbacks I have had. In addition to the online social networking aspects of blogging, I really enjoy being able to look back on my past posts to see where I was, how things used to be and how I have grown and changed.

So, anyway, here is a quick recap of the past several months:

- The CPA exam has taken over my life, but I am hoping that will come to an end soon. I took two parts in August. Passed one, failed one. I was kind of bummed, but it was better than failing both parts. So I now have two passes under my belt, and I am waiting to hear on another part that I took in early October. I will be retaking the part I failed on the Monday after Thanksgiving, so hopefully that long weekend of cramming will give me the push I need to pass this time!
- I started my job! It's hard to believe that I have been here almost two months already. Overall things have been going really well. So well that I am almost waiting for the ball to drop and for something horrible to happen. I guess that is just the alarmist in me talking. But getting health insurance and a paycheck again is seriously awesome.
- I got an iPhone, and I love love love it. I was totally against getting it at first since EVERYONE has one but it really is great. I am so happy I opted for that instead of the blackberry, because I got a blackberry for work and I don't really like it.

Uummm...I guess that's about it in terms of major happenings. That's a pretty weak list. No wonder why I haven't been posting. Hopefully I will have lots of new and exciting things going on in the near future to blog about.

Until next time...

Straight up, now tell me

I take my second part of the CPA exam this week. I feel confident and have been studying a lot, but probably not as much as I should have because I let stupid people like Paula Abdul take up my time.

As you all know, our country's favorite trainwreck, Paula Abdul, left her spot as a judge on American Idol. Some people are distaught over this; I, however, don't give a shit. First, because I was never really all that into her and never took her opinion seriously. But more importantly, I see this as a great opportunity for the producers of American Idol to breathe new life into their show. I still follow the show, but to be honest I have stopped watching it religiously like I used to because it has gotten rather stale over the years. Same shit, different season! But with a fresh, new judge, I could be tempted to watch more often. Now that I think about it, I guess they were trying to help revive the show by adding Kara to the panel, but she unfortunately did not have enough charisma to really do that sort of thing. So yeah, that was a FAIL.

But the producers now have a chance to redeem themselves by finding a replacement for Paula. My friend and I have been thinking about possible replacements, and here is what we have come up with so far:

Cheryl Cole
Debbie Gibson
Jessica Simpson
Fergie
Mandy Moore
Jewel
Kylie Minogue
Anastacia
Any of the former Spice Girls (although I think Emma or Mel C would be best)
JLo
Gwen Stefani

Who do YOU think should be the new judge on American Idol?

Getting back into the swing of blogging

I am really bummed out that I fell out of the habit of blogging for the past two months. I don't think I ever took that long of a break! And when I started this blog it was something that I really wanted to avoid doing. But alas, it happened, and there is nothing I can do about it now. I guess between my lack of inspiration and the busyness of school it was inevitable. I did miss it, though, so I am happy to get back into it once again.

It is going to be nearly impossible for me to detail everything that has gone on over the past two months (and it is also going to be impossible for me to remember everything!) but I will try my best to bring you all up to speed so that I can get back to a more normal blogging schedule!

I started my last 8.5 weeks of grad school right after Memorial Day. I pretty much had no motivation and wanted it over as soon as possible. In addition, I was determined not to let school get in the way of my having a great summer, and trust me, I didn't! I felt like my weekends were a whirlwind of fun trips. I wound up going to DC two weekends (once for Pride and once just for shits and giggles), NYC one weekend for Pride and Rehoboth Beach for 4th of July. I also moved! I am still in Center City but I am further south from where I was, which is great, because it is much more quiet and peaceful. The apartment itself is a bit of a downgrade, but it is much cheaper, and I get to live with one of my best friends from college!

I finished up the semester with 3 Bs and a B+, which is probably the worst I've ever done in school, but I am totally fine with it because all I wanted was a 3.0 since that's what I needed to graduate from the program. What I am much more proud of is the fact that I passed the first part of the CPA exam that I took back in May! I passed it by only one point, but all that matters is that I passed. I am studying for the second part now and I feel very confident now that I have one pass under my belt.

Oh, I also started a Twitter account a couple months ago. I was not really into it at first but I am totally sucked in now. If you are on there, please add me (@PhillyGinger)! I love getting new followers and I love following new people.

Alright, I think that is about as much blogging as I can handle for the moment. I'll be back soon, I promise!

I'm alive...

...just letting you know. Summer school ends this Friday, and an official update will come very soon thereafter! Can't wait to tell you about all of the mischief I have gotten into so far this summer! Until then...kisses!
